Welcon delivers towers for Hollandse Kust West VI – a groundbreaking offshore project in the Netherlands

Welcon is proud to contribute to Hollandse Kust West VI, one of Europe’s most ambitious offshore wind projects. The project is being developed by Ecowende, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco, and is located approximately 53 km off the Dutch coast near IJmuiden.

Vestas is supplying 52 of its V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbines for the project, and Welcon will manufacture 27 of the towers. Production began in spring 2025 at our factory in Give, Denmark. Here, we combine advanced technology with solid Danish craftsmanship to ensure high quality and reliability.

Hollandse Kust West VI has a capacity of 780 MW and is expected to cover around 3% of the Netherlands’ current electricity consumption. The project is particularly notable for its ecological focus – including bird and bat detection systems and the creation of corridors for birdlife between the turbines. It represents an important step toward a more sustainable use of marine resources.
