Record high order book on DKK 750 million at Welcon
Welcon is very pleased to announce that we have been selected to deliver towers for the Borssele 3+4 project in the Netherlands. The project consists of 77 MHI Vestas 9.5 MW turbines and Welcon shall produce 41 top sections, 32 middle sections and 49 bottom sections. The tower sections are going to be delivered from May 2019 until March 2020.
Welcon has also been awarded to be the supplier for various Nordex projects. For the Nysäter project in Sweden Welcon shall deliver 21 x 145 meter towers in 2020 and 23 x 145 meter towers in 2021. The Nysäter project is the largest order, that Nordex has received to date, and Welcon is very proud to be a part of this exciting project with 114 turbines.
Furthermore, Welcon shall deliver in total 23 towers from April to July this year for two Irish projects and one French project for Nordex.
In addition to the large order volume for towers, Welcon shall also produce the prototype of the TetraSpar floating offshore foundation. The prototype will be manufactured in the mid half of 2019.
All in all these new orders together with the existing order portfolio give the largest order book in the history of Welcon. Compared to the turnover of DKK 432 million in the previous fiscal year, the present record order book value of DKK 750 million has already secured a turnover in the current fiscal year of more than DKK 600 million. So even though the market conditions are challenging, it shows that Welcon is the preferred partner among the wind turbine manufacturers, when it comes to delivering high quality steel towers.
