Historic Milestone at Welcon

Friday marks an important milestone in the largest and most complex project in Welcon’s history, as the first components for Stiesdal Offshore’s TetraSub foundation leave our production facility in Give.

The project consists of a total of 16 components, of which the first seven – and largest – are now ready for delivery. The components will be transported from Welcon’s facility in Give to the Port of Hvide Sande. From there, they will be shipped to Spain for further manufacturing by a Spanish partner. Once completed, the components will return to Denmark, where they will be assembled together with the remaining nine components. The fully completed foundation is expected to be assembled by the summer of 2027.

The centre column is delivered in two sections, each measuring approximately 10 metres in diameter and weighing around 500 tonnes. In addition, four ballast tanks are being delivered, each with a diameter of 10 metres, a length of 24 metres, and a weight of approximately 350 tonnes. Finally, Radial 1 is being delivered, measuring 6.5 metres in diameter, approximately 55 metres in length, and weighing around 560 tonnes.

The components are being manufactured for Stiesdal Offshore’s TetraSub foundation, a solution developed for the next generation of floating offshore wind turbines and designed to support the global green energy transition.

This delivery is the result of many months of dedicated effort and close collaboration across Welcon’s organisation. Every department – including Engineering, Quality, Production, and Logistics – has contributed to the project, which is being delivered on schedule and to the agreed quality standards.

We are proud to reach this milestone and to demonstrate what can be achieved when expertise, collaboration, and ambition come together. On Friday, we are not simply shipping steel – we are sending a piece of Welcon history on its journey towards the energy solutions of the future.
