The job

Our team works with development and manufacturing of sustainable energy solutions, and it is our desire to contribute to reducing the global carbon footprint. The coming years will bring additional innovative and sustainable solutions to the steel manufacturing industry including Offshore Wind Floating Foundations, Hydrogen Pressure Vessels, as well as the continued evolution of wind turbines. In line with our strategy, Welcon has entered a partnership with Stiesdal A/S to manufacture components for their technologies, e.g., Offshore Floating Foundations and Hydrogen Pressure Vessels.

As Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be the link between design and production: You will be responsible for identifying, developing, and designing tools and equipment required in the production of the Stiesdal Offshore Foundations. You will use your project management skills to ensure timely delivery to the production of the tools developed both in-house and by sub-suppliers, while maintaining the budget and hours used. You will be coordinating directly with the internal workshop on manufacturing all tools and controlling manufacturing quality, before introducing and handing over tools to the production. Furthermore, you will work closely together with Stiesdal Offshore to ensure a manufacturing friendly design of the next Stiesdal Foundation.

Welcon is expanding its production facilities globally, and today Welcon is building new facilities in Taiwan and in the United States. Together with its Canadian partner, Marmen, Welcon will be the first tower manufacturer to produce offshore towers in the United States. These facilities are prepared to produce Floating foundations as well as towers. You will be an important part for transferring knowhow to these new facilities.

From the office in Give, you will become an important part of an engaged Technology Transfer Department. With you on the team, we will be 8 persons and you will report to Rune Ørnfeld Holm who is heading the team.

We are looking for an experienced, talented, and dedicated Senior Mechanical Engineer, who can manage several projects simultaneously and thrive on big responsibility.

It is an advantage if you:

• have a background as B.Sc, M.Sc. Eng or similar
• have experience from the wind industry
• have 5-7 years of experience within mechanical engineering and with design of tools
• have Project Management experience with budgeting and development of tools
• have experience with, and a desire to, being closely connected to the production of major steel components. Preferably you have hands on experience as black smith or welder or similar
• have experience with Solid Works
• want to take responsibility in a growing environment
• speak and write English fluently
• can work both independently and contribute actively to the team
• have a positive mindset and maintain optimistic throughout stressful situations
